ONE OF A KIND DESIGNS BY ALMA

 

Each piece is handmade and unique—I never duplicate a design. Truly, the way the necklaces and bracelets are made, it is nearly impossible to repeat. I spend as much time as I can scouring flea markets, antique stores and estate sales as well as travelling to faraway places, looking for the unusual and the well-made: the intricacy of the Victorian, Edwardian and art deco eras; the precolumbian designs of the Incas, handmade silver filigree from Istanbul, hand inlaid Damascene 24 karat gold done only in Toledo, Spain; enameled silver from old Siam. And then there is the lost or forgotten:  a single earring, a cuff link, an old family brooch in a box for years. I take these beautiful items and give them new life in a unique and one of a kind piece.  

 

The antique pieces are sterling silver, real gemstones, pearls or marcasite. The gold is 1/12kt to 10kt to 14kt (usual for jewelry). All the findings that I buy are sterling silver, genuine gemstones, or gold fill. I do not use gold plate as it can rub off with repeated wear—gold fill does not.
